Because of the loss of so many charter members of the net, we decided to create a new award to replace the Mystic Knights of the Sea Award. This new award is called the Pioneer award and has a few new twists to it.
Here is a sample of the certificate that will be available.
WSSB Pioneer Award
This award is so named because it involves having contacts with net members who are considered "Pioneers" of the net.
The purpose of this award is to stimulate interest in the Wolverine SSB Net and its pre-net.
Eligibility for the Award:
- Eight contacts with "Pioneer" members during the pre-net only.
- Contacts with "Pioneer" members prior to the eligibility date of May 1, 2008 do not qualify for the award.
- This award is available to any amateur radio station licensed to operate in the 3.950 Mhz range. It is hoped this will stimulate interest by non-members in the Wolverine Net and the pre-net as well.
Application for the award.
- Applicants must have contact with eight Pioneer-designated stations during the WSSB pre-net within a six month period. Callsigns of these stations are listed below, and will otherwise be made available to interested individuals.
- Each application must include the callsign of each station and dates worked.
- If an individual is fortunate enough to contact every station on the list below following the contact guidelines set forth above, a special WAP (Worked All Pioneers) certificate will be issued to their station.
- Applications can be submitted to the Net Secretary, Bill Hale - K8RWH at 3128 Lantz Rd Beavercreek, OH 45432-2518.
The application should be accompanied by a reasonable donation ($2.00 to $5.00) to cover the cost of certificate preparation and mailing. Any excess will be deposited into the net's scholarship donation fund.
